Health and Hygiene
People living in remote villages don’t have access to easy and good healthcare services as well as lack information on many aspects of evolving lives. Hence, Serve Samman in order to eliminate this evil sends a team of Doctors and Volunteers to different villages spreading awareness about good health practices. The doctors hold free health camps wherein all the villagers are screened and given appropriate medication absolutely free of cost! An initiative by Serve Samman, which changed the lives of many villagers was the introduction of MOBILE HEALTH VANS, which gives medicines every week to the villagers free of cost. The volunteers on the other hand, travel to villages holding Medical Awareness camps discussing the importance of cleanliness and personal hygiene. These volunteers distribute leaflets and publications to discuss the adverse effects and illnesses caused by poor hygiene and medically ignorant behaviour. These awareness camps help pass on information that is accurate leaving less room for belief in inaccurate age-old practices and superstition.

These volunteers and healthcare professionals also discuss the importance of living Addiction-Free lives. We encourage villagers to volunteer to clean up their own villages, streets, and neighbourhoods, making their homes and villages more pleasant and healthier to live in.

Change is always the best manifested when it takes place from the root level. Hence, in order to spread awareness completely Serve Samman also conducts Health and Hygiene Awareness camps in schools.
The water supply and sanitation conditions of schools have become a public health concern in recent years. School children spend about one third of their time either in schools or doing school assignments, during which time they may be exposed to a variety of physical, social and psychological harm. Schools provide an ideal opportunity to detect poor hygiene practice by children.

Majority of government run primary schools in the country do not have access to drinking water sources or adequate sanitation facilities for hand washing and excrete disposal.

The provision of school hygiene and sanitation ensures the rights of students to acceptable hygiene practices, safe water supply, latrines and a healthy school environment in general. The impact could have further beneficial effects, like
1. Healthy environments facilitate more effective learning.
2. Opportunities for students to gain life-long positive hygiene behaviors.
3. Opportunities for increased school enrollment, retention and attendance for girls.
4. Information on Sexual Health and Mensuration for Girls.
5. Healthier lifestyle and living conditions by educating the kids at the correct age
